The third biomass boiler room on the Whelen campus is their latest effort to fully eliminate the use of heating oil in their 330,000 square feet of production, warehouse and office facilities located in Charlestown, NH.
The two Viessmann Vitoflex 300-RF boilers that were installed there have a total maximum output of 3.4 million BTU per hour. The plan is to have them take most of the winter heating load.
Now that the third plant is running, Whelen is offsetting an average of 140,000 gallons of heating oil each year with precision dry wood chips.
We expect this boiler system to generate 1600 NH T-RECs per year.
